Birthday
Sandro Botticelli
Sandro Botticelli, born in Florence on 1 March 1445, was an Italian painter of the early Renaissance. He came from a wealthy family and was trained in the workshop of the goldsmith Fra Filippo Lippi. He later worked for the Medici family and was patronized by Lorenzo the Magnificent.
Botticelli was known for his detailed paintings and often worked on mythological and religious themes. He created famous works such as The Birth of Venus and The Spring. In later life, however, Botticelli turned more and more to religious subjects, including paintings for the Church of San Marco in Florence.
After his death, Botticelli was forgotten for a long time until he was rediscovered in the 19th century and celebrated as one of the most important painters of the Renaissance. Despite his importance during his creative period, he was forgotten and only later rediscovered. Today, Botticelli is considered one of the most influential artists of his time, and his works are exhibited in many museums worldwide.
